Football has been a huge part of my life. I started playing when I was 15 and continued for years. Even after a long break, I realized how much it keeps me in shape!

When my son and daughter started playing, I was mostly just happy for them to stay active and enjoy the game. But to my surprise, they took to it and achieved some amazing things!
I’ve learned that the most important thing is to let kids enjoy the game. I never put any pressure on them, because it’s ultimately their journey. I always try to encourage them and give a few helpful tips, but I let them play their way.
Sometimes I see parents getting stressed out during games, only focused on winning. I think it’s important to remember that the most important thing is for kids to learn and have fun.
Coaching Styles
I’ve seen coaches do some amazing things — they guide players, help them improve, and keep them motivated. But sometimes, coaches can get a bit too bossy, telling kids exactly what to do every second. I think it’s important for kids to learn to think for themselves on the field.
Think about Messi and Ronaldo — they weren’t told every move! They learned to play with creativity and flair.
Parental Pressure
It’s sad to see how much pressure some parents put on their kids. They only care about winning, and that can make it hard for kids to relax and play their best.
Football Academies
Football academies can be great places for kids to learn and grow. But sometimes, the focus is too much on winning tournaments. This can put a lot of pressure on both the coaches and the players.
A Few Tips for Parents
- Let kids play their own game: Encourage creativity and let them make their own decisions on the field.
- Focus on the long term: Help them develop skills and enjoy the game, not just win every match.
- Be supportive: Cheer them on and celebrate their successes, both big and small. Be 100% supportive when they fail.
I believe that if we all focus on creating a fun and supportive environment for young players, we can help them grow into confident and successful footballers.
I hope this helps! Will try to make another version of this based of observations of more parents and coaches.
